Arden Heights is on the South Shore of Staten Island, NY. In 1886 Erastus Wiman a real estate developer named the community. Known for being the site of St. Michael’s Children’s Home which was on Arthur Kill Rd. It was a Catholic orphanage, which closed in 1982. Some of the land was sold to Real Estate Developers and a section of the community is now known as Aspen Knolls. The original plan was to build the development to house naval families. Due to base realignment and closure that never transpired. The builders decided to move forward with the construction and sell it to the general public.
